Inscription.  
The Community of Benedictine nuns have been stewards
of the Kylemore estate for over a century, the longest
continuous habitant of the estate.

They welcome postulants, students, guests, and visitors from around the world to their home. Over a hundred years, the Community has managed the estate, farmed the land, supported the local economy, and preserved the historic and natural heritage. Arctic char, a member of the salmon family, is a fish species you may not expect in Connemara. The Arctic char is native to the Arctic, subarctic, or cold alpine lakes. it is a 'glacial relict' species, isolated from other char populations when the glaciers retracted from the Irish landscape.
