Regarding Reverend John Jones Memorial. Rev. John Jones, a native of Wales, was a graduate of Cambridge University, and episcopally ordained an Anglican minister in England. He came, with other nonconforming clergymen of the national church, to New England in 1635 and settled in Concord, Massachusetts, coming to Fairfield in 1644. Reverend Jones attended the 1653 execution of Goody Knapp, who was condemned as a witch, and ministered to her despite her being shut out from christian consolation prior to her death.
