1. Sienna Botanica Marker

Inscription. The Sienna Botanica is the riverine system that you see here. It is a man made natural biofiltration system that handles urban run-off throughout the community of Ladera Ranch. The Sienna Botanica uses plants and soilto filtrate the run-off and uses various interceptors to help regulate the water flow. This drainage system prevents overflowing of the Sienna Botanica during a storm, which also keeps Ladera Ranch safe and prepared for run-off. The Sienna Botanica is Ladera Ranch's effort to make sure to be mindful of of its surroundings and to lessen the impact of its urban run-off to the ocean. This 2.4 mile long riverine begins across from the Town Green Park, runs through the middle of Ladera Ranch and ends at the Horno Creek Water Quality Basin, where the now naturally filtered water is collected and continues its journey to the ocean. The Sienna Botanica has won numerous awards for its engineering, design and use of conservation.
