1. The Vance Farm Marker

Inscription. This land was purchased by Peter Rechner in 1804. John Vance married into the Rechner family in 1853 and the area became a small part of the Vance family farm.

The ground was plowed annually to plant corn. During plowing, hundreds of artifacts were pulled to the surface, attracting the attention of early "relic hunters" and the archaeological community.
