1. Early Investigations Marker

Inscription. The property was sold to the City of Dayton in the mid-20th century. John Allman, a former civil engineer and amateur archaeologist, took interest in the area and in 1964, began his investigation into the site. Over the course of six years, Allman excavated the site and identified it as a Fort Ancient culture village by 1967.
