Inscription.
By 1970, most of the old, sometimes disused, industrial and canal buildings in the Patterson Boulevard blocks between Third and Sixth streets had been removed, many as a result of urban renewal. Vacant lots were typically used as parking lots. The present-day Patterson Commons was no exception. Older industrial buildings used during the 1950s as warehouses were razed for a parking lot on the island between Fourth Street, St. Clair Street, and Patterson Boulevard.

The Patterson Commons area during the 1970s, with the block being used as parking lot.
