Inscription. To record the changing plant populations of the Thain Family Forest, transect surveys are performed every five years. These studies measure the distribution of plants throughout the Forest over time. The first surveys were completed in 1985 and then again in 2002, 2006, and 2011. When continually repeated, these studies can show how the Forest ecosystem is changing and help to determine how to best manage the Forest. This point marks where a transect passes from west to cast across the Forest.
