Inscription.
San Juan Hill was a community in what is now the Lincoln Square neighborhood of the Upper West Side in Manhattan, NYC. Initially inhabited by the Lenape, it's residents were mostly African-American, Afro-Caribbean, and Puerto Rican. It comprised one of the largest African American communities in NYC before World War I.

Generally understood to be bound by 59 St on the south, West End Ave on the west, 65 St on the north, and Amsterdam Ave on the east. In 1947, the City of New York made San Juan Hill an area for redevelopment. The site is now the home of Lincoln Center.
