Mosquito Creek Lake - Ohio's Second Largest Inland Lake

Construction completed in April 1944 in just 3 months giving it the name "The 90-Day Wonder." It was implemented for WWII efforts and finalized just before D-Day, which was the largest seaborne invasion in history.
Ohio's second largest inland lake at 9.6 miles long and 7850 surface acres. The drainage area above the dam (watershed) is 97 square miles.
The dam is 5650 feet long, 47 feet tall, and 430 ft wide at the base.
The outlet works is comprised of two 8' x 8' x 350' conduits, four 4' x 8' sluice gates, and two 2' x 2' low flow gate valves.
The reservoir also provides water to the City of Warren through three 3' x 4' gates.
The majority of the lake is leased to ODNR Parks & Watercraft and ODNR Division of Wildlife for resource and recreation management.
The cost of the dam construction was $4,035,000.00 and to date has prevented approximately $519,763,000.00 in flood damage.
