K. Jack Kooyoomian, Ph.D.. Since 1978, Dr. Kooyoomijian has shaped the quality-of-life in our community by securing attractive quality developments like Tackett's Mill. Through four decades of civic involvement along with his EPA career, he facilitated effective citizen communication to developers and county decision makers as Charter Chairman of the Lake Ridge-Occoquan-Coles Civic Association's (LOCCA's) Planning, Environment, Land-Use and Transportation (PELT) Committee and President of LOCCA. LOCCA became the first Civic Association granted the distinction as the Charter VA Green Community by the VA Department of Forestry in 1991. He was nominated for the Governor's Award for Volunteerism, recipient of the VA State Planning Association Award for civic involvement, served on the Tackett's Mill Foundation, the PWC Service Authority Board, the PW Conservation Alliance, Friends of the PW Watersheds, patient advocate on Sentara Hospital's Institutional Review Board, Chairman of the local Washington Metropolitan Section of the Armenian Engineers and Scientists Association of America, Inc., the Federal Water Quality Association, and the PW Committee of 100 in a variety of capacities, including as President.
