Bird-friendly gardens like this one support local and migratory birds by providing food, water, shelter and a suitable place to raise their young. They offer seeds, berries, nectar, and insects for birds to eat. By growing bird-friendly gardens at home, work, school and in shared spaces, we restore nature's food webs for wildlife and people to enjoy.

In this garden, the flowers are native to Maryland, which means they are adapted to local soil and climate and provide a habitat similar to birds, butterflies and other beneficial insects.

Birds, bats and insects are pollinators that move from plant to plant to feed while also carrying pollen between plants, enabling them to reproduce.
