Olga Segler, geboren in der Ukraine, war das an Jahren älteste Opfer der Mauer.
Um zu ihrer Tochter in den angrenzenden Bezirk im Westen der Stadt zu gelangen, sprang sie aus dem Haus Bernauer Str. 34 aus einem Fenster im 2. Stock in ein Sprungtuch der Feuerwehr. Dabei erlitt sie so schwere innere Verletzungen, dass sie am folgenden Tag starb.

Olga Segler, born in Ukraine, was the oldest victim of the Berlin Wall.
To reach her daughter in the neighboring district in the west of the city, she jumped from a second-story window of the house at Bernauer Strasse 34 onto a fire department safety net. She suffered such severe internal injuries that she died the following day.
Erected 2021 by Berliner Bürgerverein 1970.

According to the Centre for Contemporary History (ZZF), Segler was both one of the earliest victims of the Berlin Wall and the oldest victim, aged 80 years old at the time of her death. Additionally, Segler was one of only eight women who was either killed at the Berlin wall, or died as a result of crossing it, among the total of at least 140 victims.
