1. Family History Marker

Inscription.
Irish immigrants Dennis and Catherine Buckley fled the Potato Famine in the mid-1800's and purchased the original 79 acre homestead for 50¢ per acre from soldiers who had received land grants after the war. Thrilled to own his own land, Dennis worked himself to death in only three years. The land was left to his children. After buying out his siblings, son John and later John's son Charles farmed the land with Charles concentrating on a dairy operation. Charles' children were the last Buckleys to live on the homestead.
