1. Z. D. Ramsdell House Marker
Inscription.
Z.D. Ramsdell was among the colony of New England anti-slave emigrants that established the town of Ceredo 1857. Ramsdell traveled from Maine to Ceredo in a covered wagon and in 1858 built this house atop an Indian mound, the highest point in town. Ramsdell later became a Captain in the Union Army. It is believed that this house was a final stop on the Underground Railroad.
