Boyd Park. . , Frank Boyd (1881-1962) helped organize the Brotherhood of Railway Sleeping Car Porters. He fought for better wages and working conditions for union workers as well as for rights for all African-Americans. Boyd insisted on the dignity of workers, no matter how menial their tasks. Railway porters were universally called "George" (after the Pullman Car inventor) until Boyd helped win the right to display their real names in sleeping cars.
