1. George Adams Wyman Marker
The first person to cross America by motorcycle, riding from San Francisco to New York City
May 16-July 6, 1903
George A. Wyman was the first person to make a transcontinental journey across America by means of a motorized vehicle. Wyman rode a 200cc, 1.25-horsepower 1902 "California" motor-bicycle manufactured by the California Motor Company.
Wyman departed Walcott, WY, at 6:30 am, June 2nd, following the railroad tracks. Passing through Hanna, he rode to Medicine Bow, where he stopped to fix several spokes on his wheels. Continuing along the railroad tracks, Wyman arrived in Laramie shortly after 7 pm. He went to the Lovejoy Garage on Second Street to make repairs, which extended well into the next day. Wyman remained in Laramie until the morning of June 4th.
