Beaven Hall is the oldest state-funded building on the CBL campus, built in 1931 on land donated by the citizens of Solomons. Re-dedicated in 1992 to honor Dr. George F. Beaven (1903-1964), a pioneer in the field of marine biology and widely recognized as Maryland's leading authority on shellfish of the Chesapeake Bay.

This building houses CBL's administration. It is home to the CBL Director, administration and library as well as offices for faculty and students.
