Indian Ambush
August 9, 1864, Robert Emery, stage driver, discovering Indians in ambush on the trail just ahead, 722 ft. due south of this point, wheeled his horses, and under hot fire, raced back to a wagon train three miles east, saving lives of his nine passengers.
