Summer home of Frederick Douglass built for him by his youngest son Charles Remond Douglass completed in 1895.

Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey was an abolitionist, orator, writer, diplomat, advisor to President Lincoln, U.S. Marshal and Ambassador to Haiti.

Charles and his wife Laura founded Highland Beach in 1893. Highland Beach is the first African American resort in the United States.
 
Erected 2022 by families of Benjamin Secundy and Raymond Langston, donated to the Town of Highland Beach.
