Inscription. This tablet marks the crossing of the Indian trails of the Pottawattoma, Black Hawk and Miami tribes, from White Pigeon, Michigan. to the Indian reservation in Miami County and from Fort Wayne to Winamac thence to South Bend and Michigan City

Original White colony made settlement on July 4, 1836

Erected 1918 by Manitou Chapter No. 840, Daughters of the American Revolution.
