Inscription. On this site stood the mansion of William Rotch, Jr., built c. 1790 and moved to Johnny Cake Hill in 1851, where it serves as the Mariner's Home. In time, this property passed to Peter J. Haste, a native of Greece, whose generosity made possible its acquisition of the Old Dartmouth Historical Society in 1971.
