Inscription.
In 1938, steel tycoon Robert Ingersoll Ingalls Sr. (1882-1951) pursued an opportunity to grow his business and support the United States efforts in World War through shipbuilding. Settling on the East Bank of the Pascagoula River in Jackson County Miss., Ingalls Shipbuilding has established a legacy of world class shipbuilding and helped build a community of dedicated shipbuilders.

River 38 is named in honor of the year the shipyard was founded 1938 and the Pascagoula River, which continues to give life to Ingalls its shipbuilders and the strong ships built there each day

Erected by River 38 Coffee.
