Victoria Park. The Elora Gorge. Welcome to Victoria Park. This park provides some of the best vantage points from which you may enjoy the natural beauty of the Elora Gorge. Perched adjacent to the Gorge the park offers you spectacular views of 25m (80ft) limestone cliffs, the Grand River and Irvine Creek. Be sure to check out the "lover's leap" viewing area, the trails along the edge of the Gorge and stairs to caves and the river floor below, the limestone flowerpot "the Tooth of Time" and of course the Elora Falls. See the 1867 David St Bridge from above and below with its stone cut corners. It is a rare surviving example of an open-spandrel concrete arch bridge design. , The Elora Gorge was formed by glacial meltwater during the end of the last ice age, roughly 12,000 years ago. The soft limestone was eroded creating numerous caves and exposing fossils. This area was an important transportation route for indigenous peoples and by the 1830's became an important site for water power, settlement and industry.
