It Takes a Village
Though you have reached the first Fort Mose, your work is far from over. Running a self-sufficient community in the harsh Florida wilderness is an everyday effort, as both men and women must provide most of their own food, maintain homes and craft many of the things they need.

Fort Mose residents lived outside the fort, near their fields. Their skills in farming, hunting, fishing, basketry and more helped them survive. They traded with nearby Native American groups and learned Catholicism from a Spanish priest.
