Inscription.
Elliott B. Bronson (1858-1931) of Winchester Center, Connecticut and a two term legislator was involved in the purchase of thousands of acres across the state which became Connecticut State Park and Forest lands. He was the land agent who worked to consolidate contiguous properties on the land that would become Peoples State Forest.

His son, Elliott P. Bronson (1899-1983), also of Winchester Center, wrote the pageant, "The Forest of Refuge" for the dedication of this forest. He continued the work that his father started. In 1964, he retired as Superintendent of Connecticut State Parks after completing nearly 40 years of state service.

Elliott C. (Bud) Bronson (1924-2001), a life long resident of Winchester Center and a World War II veteran, served the State of Connecticut for 34 years, with the Department of Environmental Protection and its predecessor, the Connecticut Parks and Forest Commission. For half of his career, Bud worked at Connecticut State Parks where he was heavily involved in purchasing land for Connecticut state parks. He served the remainder of his career as an environmental analyst for CT DEP.

The careers of father, son, and grandson are a credit to Connecticut's Park and Forest system—a system for the citizens of our state and the country.
