1. Tree of Hippocrates Marker

Inscription.
The Plantanus orientalis is a descendant of the tree under which Hippocrates taught the students of medicine on the Greek Island of Kos around 400 B.C. Hippocrates is often called the father of western medicine because his philosophy and guiding principles are embodied in the "Hippocratic Oath" which is still administered in varied forms to many physicians in the United States upon completion of medical school.
