Linking Fort Collins to the North Park Valley along a centuries-old trail, the Cache la Poudre-North Park Scenic and Historic Byway offers outstanding recreational opportunities for campers, rafters, kayakers, and anglers. The byway takes its name from Colorado’s only federally designated National Wild and Scenic River.

The Moose Visitor Center at Colorado State Forest State Park is open year round (Christmas and Thanksgiving excluded). Seasonal hours, call for more information.

Created in 1915, Rocky Mountain National Park preserves the ecology, wildlife, and scenery of the Rocky Mountains. Trail Ridge Road, founded in 1932, is the highest continuously paved road in North America, peaking at 12,183 feet.

Longs Peak is named for explorer Stephen H. Long, who sighted it in 1820. French fur trappers called this imposing mountain and its eastern neighbor, Mount Meeker (13,911 feet) Les Deux Oreilles, or “the two stars.”

As the backbone of the Rocky Mountains, the Continental Divide separates the waters flowing to the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

The Fort Collins Museum, located at 200 Mathews Street, offers regularly scheduled tours of Fort Collins Old Town. Please call for more information.
