1. Operation JUST CAUSE - Panama Marker
When the U.S. president ordered forces into Panama in 1989 over six hundred women were involved. Many were already stationed in the country, so their full participation in the conflict was unavoidable. Women served in military police and intelligence units, a signal battalion, and in support roles for the infantry. Female helicopter pilots few missions in UH-1s and UH-60s during combat operations, and a woman commanded the mortuary affairs unit. They held key leadership positions overseeing operations in enemy prisoner of war holding points and detention facilities. Their service proved women were fully capable and willing to serve in all combat theaters of operation.
