From Canal Commerce to Pioneer Charm
In the 1800s, the Sandy and Beaver Canal transformed this quiet valley into a busy trade Route, with 90 locks and 30 dams stretching across 73 miles. Gaston's Mill, built in 1837, harnessed the energy of the Little Beaver to grind flour for local settlers. Today, the fully restored mill anchors a charming pioneer village that brings the past to life.

Paddle Ohio's Scenic Gem
Little Beaver Creek offers one of the state's best paddle trips. Enjoy swift currents and stunning gorge views on this Wild and Scenic River. Paddling only-no motors allowed. Safety Reminder: Wear a life jacket and watch for natural hazards. Swimming is not permitted.

Fishing
Enjoy excellent stream fishing for smallmouth bass and rock bass in the clear waters of Little Beaver Creek. A valid Ohio fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older.

Trails
Explore several hiking and mountain biking trails, along with more than 23 miles of scenic bridle trails-also open to hikers.

Camping
Beaver Creek State Park offers peaceful, primitive camping for families and equestrians. The main campground on Leslie Road includes pit toilets but no showers. The equestrian camp on Sprucevale Road offers tie-ups, primitive sites, and access to

Discover Nature Up Close at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
Step inside Columbiana County's one-of-a-kind museum of natural history and learning! Nestled within the scenic beauty of Beaver Creek State Park, the Wildlife Education Center is a volunteer-run gem dedicated to connecting people of all ages with the wonders of the natural world.

Open Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5 p.m., May through early October, the center is packed with interactive displays, fascinating exhibits, live animals, and fun learning experiences for the whole family. You will leave with a deeper understanding of Ohio's native wildlife and a stronger appreciation for conservation.

Thanks to a passionate team of volunteers and generous community support through grants, donations, and fundraising, admission is always free but visitor donations are welcome. Every visit directly supports the mission to educate, inspire, and nurture a love for nature.

Teachers and group leaders-this is more than just a weekend stop. From May 1 to October 15, the center also offers custom programs for schools, scouts, and community groups by appointment. Can't come to us? We can come to you!
