1. Fusiliers Redoubt Marker

Inscription. Here, just west of Yorktown, the British built an earthwork to control the road to Williamsburg. This fortification was manned by the Royal Welch Fusiliers throughout the siege. The path leads to the reconstructed redoubt.

3. Fortifications on the York River

Fusiliers Redoubt was constructed by the British on the York River, west of the village of Yorktown. On October 9, 1781, it received the first fire of the siege bombardment from the nearby French battery.
