18th Alabama - Lieutenant Colonel R. F. Inge.
36th Alabama - Colonel Lewis T. Woodruff.
38th Alabama - Lieutenant Colonel A. R. Lankford.
1st Arkansas Battery - Captain John T. Humphreys.
After crossing the LaFayette road at Brotherton's at four o'clock, Clayton's Brigade in a brief engagement, aided by Fulton's Brigade of Bushrod Johnson's Division, which attacked at the south end of the Brotherton field, drove Dick's and S. Beatty's Brigades westward and followed to this position Dick and Beatty withdrawing to the slope west of the Crawfish Springs road. From this position upon the appearance of Negley's Division advancing from the direction of Widow Glenn's to the Dyer field, Clayton withdrew to the east side of the LaFayette road.

It can be reached from Glenn-Kelly Road east of Chickamauga-Vittatoe Road, on the left when traveling north. This marker is located in the National Military Park that preserves the site of the Chickamauga Battlefield, and is situated near a small stream that runs through the South Dyer Field (labeled the Brotherton Field on the Chickamauga Battlefield Map).
