Established by order of Philip II, King of Spain, 1591. This site was occupied by the Colegio after their first school building in Cabildo St. was destroyed during the occupation of Manila by the British (1762-1764) during the Seven Years War. School building by then occupied by the Governor General, 1863. Dissolved and absorbed by the Colegio de Santa Isabel, 1866. Building then served as headquarters of the Philippine Health Service; then destroyed during the Second World War. Present structure housing the Manila Chapter of the Philippine Red Cross erected, 1950s.
