This granite was originally part of the Marshall Theater which was erected in 1818 on the southeast corner of Broad and Seventh Streets in Richmond, Virginia. The city razed the old theater building, including several additions, in 2004. Only a few granite blocks and bricks from the original theater were saved, this being one.

5. Lt. Gen. Ambrose Powell Hill's 4th Gravesite
Seen at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia. Gen. Hill was moved to the shown site in January 2023. It is his fourth resting place. He was only ever interred in Chesterfield because the evacuation of Richmond following the fall of Petersburg prevented interment in Hollywood Cemetery. Exhumed from the Winston family cemetery in 1867, his remains were in Hollywood Cemetery until 1892, when he was moved by veterans to the intersection of Hermitage Road and Laburnum Avenue in the planned communities of Lewis Ginter's Richmond suburbs. Ginter had served under AP Hill and donated land for his third burial site. Hill's remains were placed inside the base of the Laburnum/Hermitage monument and remained in that intersection until December 2022. He never asked to be buried there; in fact, his family initially contested the effort to disinter him from Hollywood Cemetery. His contemporary family had always desired him to be buried in Culpeper, where he finally rests.
