Primera alcaldesa de San Juan del 1946 al 1968 y prominente figura del siglo 20. Por su extraordinaria aportación a los derechos de la mujer y ejemplo de honestidad y buena administración, trascendió los límites geográficos de Puerto Rico.

Sin hijos propios, hizo de los niños de San Juan, sus hijos, se ocupó de su salud, educación, bienestar y hasta les proveyo la experiencia de jugar con la nieve cuando la trajo por avión a San Juan en las Navidades de los años 1952, 53 y 54.

(English):
First female mayor of San Juan from 1946 το 1968 and prominent figure of the 20th century. For her extraordinary contribution to women rights and for being an exemplary honest administrator, she transcended the limits of Puerto Rico borders.

Not having children of her own, she regarded the children of San Juan as her own. She took good care of their health, education, well-being and even gave them the experience of playing with snow by transporting some to San Juan by plane during Christmas time of 1952, 53 and 54.
