1941. Paul (Junior) Weber, Oswald Tucker, and Lionel Acy by 1938 Chevy taxi in front of United Cab at 1401 Poydras St. Mr. Weber was a board member for nearly thirty years. Mr. Tucker and Mr. [bottom part of caption is not visible].
1942. From the inception of the corporation, all of the members took an active role in the continuing struggle to create a prosperous and strong organization. It would take pages to outline the different types of harassment that the members endured from Toye Brother's Yellow Cab monopoly and also the New Orleans Police. It was not uncommon for some members of United Cabs, Inc. to be arrested more than 16 times in one evening. The courage and fortitude of these pioneers of the independent cab business will always be remembered by the members of Cooperative Cab Company.
1949. Untied Cabs is finally free to operate on cab stands and is allowed to offer the same service to the city as Yellow Cab. United Cabs begin to build a larger fleet to supply fast service. Pictured is Anthony Gambino, P. Valenti and O. Tucker all early owners.
