Inscription. Pvt. Joseph P. Bashaw Co. I 7th Tenn Infantry "I was captured and carried to Pt. Lookout Prison, where I took chronic dysentery without treatment, I came near dying before they sent me to a hospital where I began to improve a little, but what I got to eat was scant and bad for a sick boy, I gained no strength"

Pvt. Enos Jennings Co. I 7th Tenn. Infantry Released from Pt. Lookout June 7th 1865. Arrives home June 28th via ship, wagon, trains and foot. "Went on a ship from Pt. Lookout to Savanna and walked and rode a wagon to Gainesboro, and on a train to Augusta, Ga. and then to Atlanta and then to Chattanooga and then stayed all night. Took a freight to Wartrace and got home to 5 o'clock and my mother met me at the creek shouting and we had a good time"
