1. 904 Wisconsin Avenue Marker
Dr. Albert H. Miller owned this beautiful home for over 50 years. Built in 1911, the home still features the original leaded glass windows and hardwood floors.
Dr. Miller came to Gladstone in 1906 from Canada. He married Gertrude Adams from Soo Michigan in 1908. They had one daughter. Dr. Miller's office was in the garage, behind the house, and the original sign is still on the door. He was a Charter Member of the Gladstone Rotary, Grand Mason in 1923 and a member of the County Draft Appeal Board during WWI. He died in 1965 at the age of 86.
The second owners of this home were Lawrence and Joan Martin. They raised 3 daughters here and Joan was very community minded. She was one of the first 3 women to serve on the City Council. She served 6 years, two terms as Mayor. Best known for establishing the second Industrial Park and the property exchange with the USFS for the expansion of the Golf Course from 9 to 18 holes. She served on the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Child Welfare Club and established American Dream Realty. Joan Martin 1929-2017.
