1. American Basswood Marker

Inscription.
The American Basswood (Tilla Americana) is usually 60-120 feet tall. Songbirds and bluejays are attracted to the seeds and they also use the tree for shelter. The flowers are small, fragrant and yellowish-white arranged in clusters. Its soft wood is used for making food boxes, yardsticks, furniture and pulpwood. Native American Indians made ropes, woven baskets and mats from the tough fibrous inner bark.
