History
The name Westbourne originates from the River Westbourne that passes through the eastern section of the park, nearby where the footbridge that crosses the canal now stands. In the 19th Century, the construction of the Grand Union Canal Paddington Arm and Great Western Railways turned a relatively rural settlement into a more built-up area.

Streets and housing that formerly stood on this site, save for St Mary Magdalene's Church, were demolished from 1962 onwards following an Act of Parliament to make way for the construction of the Westway Flyover. The park dates from about 1974 when it was laid out by the former Greater London Council. The park was transferred to the City of Westminster following the completion of the Flyover.

Wildlife & Water
Spend time in the park and see what animals, birds and insects you can find on the way! You will come across a cherry tree orchard along with planting and habitat features.

An extensive sustainable drainage system has been introduced, where surface rainwater is collected via rain gardens with biodiverse planting and permeable paving.

Erected by City of Westminster.
