Lucky Bird's Aviary
This aviary, dedicated to Nannette Carole Wireman Brown (1948-2017) Over a thirty-year period (1966 to 1996), Carole was a friend, fellow staff member and a contributing member to the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve. She was our first gift shop employee, our first Volunteer Coordinator and a loyal education and gift shop staff manager. At the time of her passing, Carole was serving as the President of the Board of Directors for Global Wildlife Trust, Inc.
In 1994, Carole befriended a fledgling cockatiel who was at risk of dying without intensive care. Carole took him home and named him "Lucky Bird". In her loving care, Lucky Bird thrived and survived to the very ripe old age (for a cockatiel) of 25, preceding Carole in death by days.
