About the Bench
The Reconstruction period, the era immediately following the Civil War and emancipation, teaches us when it comes to justice and equalitywhat may seem impossible is indeed possible. And it all began right here, in our South Carolina Sea Islands.
The Second Founding of America: Reconstruction Beaufort is a non-for-profit corporation, working in collaboration with The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. The mission of Reconstruction Beaufort is to uncover the truth and tell and teach missing parts of our nation's history.

Artist: Ginger Wareham, Owner & Creative Director of EatStayPlayBeaufort and PickleJuice
About the Artist
Ginger Noah Wareham has always had a love for bright, fun colors. At the age of 5, her parents set her creative spirit free letting her paint murals on her own bedroom walls. From this point, her soul was struck with the passion to create and inspire using her artistic gift.
Today, Ginger is the Owner & Creative Director of PickleJuice and EatStayPlayBeaufort. She specializes in digital design and marketing solutions but also loves to break away from the tech and get her hands messy. When asked by her friend and Mayor of Beaufort, Billy Keyserling, if she would be willing to work on this project, she jumped at the opportunity. Not only is this an amazing community project launched by the Beaufort Cultural District, but Reconstruction in Beaufort is something we all need to learn more about.
