God's Acre
In November 1884, Atlanta officials adopted an ordinance that directed all city paupers be buried in Westview Cemetery's God's Acre. A deal was brokered where the city would pay for the burials and the West View Cemetery Association would provide the land and labor for them.

Located near this site, those interred in God's Acre were buried in rows, one next to the other, based on the date of their death. Most of the graves are unmarked; however; a few monuments exist.

By 1925, the City of Atlanta had stopped using God's Acre. Not included in Westview's 1907 perpetual care plan, the section is not open to the general public.

Rest Haven
Rest Haven, named after Methodist Episcopal Church Bishop Gilbert Haven, is Westview Cemetery's historic black burial ground founded in 1884. Located not far from this site, its several acres were designed so that graves were clustered around three avenues — East Haven, Central and West Haven.

The opening in 1886 of the historically black South-View Cemetery in Atlanta drastically affected sales within Rest Haven. Yet despite the competition, burials continued infrequently into the later part of the twentieth century.
