Dungarvan Harbour is an important area for wintering birdlife that breed near the Arctic and fly south to escape the northern winter. About 15 species of wading birds are common in the bay during the winter.

Gob gainimh is ea An Coinigéar (ar a dtugaí “An Cóir” go háitiúil), a shíneann 2.5km trasna Chuan Dhún Garbhán. Tagann an t-ainm ón bhfocal Gaeilge ‘coinicéar’ — is furast do choiníní poill a thochailt sa chré thog, ghainmheach.

Eaglais Agaistín Naofa — St. Augustine’s Church
Tá eaglais ar an suíomh seo ón 13ú aois i leith. Bhí Mainistir Ord na nAgaistíneach, a bunaíodh c.1290, ar an dara Mhainistir Agaistíneach a bunaíodh in Éirinn. Ar na foirgnimh atá fós ann, tá saingeal ó 13ú aois agus túr ón 15ú aois. Togadh an séipéal reatha idir 1832–4.

A church has stood on this site since the thirteenth century. The Abbey of the Augustinian Order, founded c.1290, was the second of the Augustinian Monasteries established in Ireland. The surviving buildings, from the period, consist of the 13th century chancel and the 15th century tower. The present church was built in 1832–4.

The marker is located near a scenic view of Dungarvan Harbour.
Lighthouse was built in 1858 designed by George Halpin Junior, who also designed Black Rock Lighthouse in Co. Mayo, which has a similar appearance.

Heilbhic — Helvick
Ceann tíre ar an dtaobh ó dheas de Chua Dhún Garbhán agus ar bhinn thoir Leithinis na Ríne is ea Ceann Heilbhic. Tá sé i gceantair an t-aon Ghaeltacht amháin i gContae Phort Láirge. Tá an logainm Heilbhic ar cheann de bheagán logainmneacha sa tír seo a thagann ó Shean-Lochlainnis na mairnéalach Lochlannach, a bhí ag foghlaíocht feadh chósta na nDéise sna Meánaoiseanna.

Ceann Heilbhic (Helvick Head) is the headland on the southern end of Dungarvan Harbour and the eastern tip of the Ring Peninsula. It is situated in the only Gaeltacht area in Co. Waterford. Heilbhic is one of very few Irish place names derived from the Old Norse of Viking sailors who patrolled these coasts in the Middle Ages.
