1. Visiting the Thomas Cole National Historic Site Marker
Visitor Center
We recommend that you begin your visit at the Visitor Center, which is straight ahead. Inside you can purchase tickets and browse the museum shop.
Main House
The 1815 Main House is where Thomas Cole and Maria Bartow Cole lived with their extended family and laborers.
Old Studio
The 1839 Studio is where Thomas Cole worked for seven years and painted The Voyage of Life series.
New Studio
The reconstructed 1846 Studio was designed by Thomas Cole and now features a museum gallery.
Hudson River Skywalk
The three-mile-one-way pedestrian walkway connects the home of Thomas Cole and his student, the artist Frederic Church. The entrance is on your left.
Gravesite
A short walk down Spring Street brings you to the cemetery with Catskill Mountain views where the Cole family is buried.
