Thomas the son of Henry and Joyce Millett was born in 1605 in Chertsey, Surrey England. He married Mary Grenaway May 1, 1629. They came to America on the Ship Elizabeth of London. They were puritans and became Freeman May 17, 1637. He began preaching in the Anglican Church in Dorchester Mass. and lived there twenty years. In 1668 he was found living in Gloucester Mass. It is said that he came there with the rare title of "MR" a title he received by the place he filled in the church in Dorchester. He lived and preached in Gloucester about 20 years. The Millett family next moved to Brookfield Mass., they arrived in March 31, 1674. Thomas was given this 20 acres as a grant for his preaching. He lived here in 1675 when the Settlement was attacked by Indians, in the King Philip War, and the Settlement and his home were burned to the ground. Thomas was injured during the attack and returned to Gloucester, where he died two months later. Mary died seven years later in Gloucester they had eight children.
