Summit Overlook

Take a moment to take in the surrounding landscape and what the summit of the Glenridge Quarry Naturalization Site has to offer. There are many interesting views of the surrounding landscape.

See what you else can spot from this panoramic view!

Brock University: The western view includes the campus of Brock University. Founded in 1964, Brock has become an anchor of Niagara's community. Brock University enjoys an enrolment of tens of thousands of full-time and part-time students who major in a wide variety of disciplines. On a clear day, the view of Brock's library tower (a symbol of academic pride) is clearly visible.

Children's Science and Nature Area: Below you and to the west is the Children's Science and Nature area. Here you will find an interesting and educational experience that answers many questions you may have about our amazing natural world. Along specialty display areas, features you will find in this area include: earth tunnels, a sand stream, scaling boulders, and climbing rocks.

Niagara Falls: On a clear day, the southern view may

include the mist rising from the majestic Niagara Falls. Nearly one-fifth of the world's fresh water contained in the Great Lakes cascades over the American and Canadian faces of the Falls. Upon reaching the bottom, the water travels 24 km until it reaches Lake Ontario. The flow of water over both the American and Canadian falls stopped only once in recorded history in March 1848. An ice jam in the upper Niagara River enabled people to walk out into the riverbed to recover historic artifacts. Several hours later, the river's flow was restored.

Niagara Escarpment: One can look west to view the Niagara Escarpment, one of Ontario's most significant scenic landforms. The massive cliffs in the distance are actually made of sedimentary rock formed by a process of upheaval and erosion that began over 450 million years ago. The escarpment is home to more than 500 different species of birds and animals and over 100 different species of plants and flowers. Some of Ontario's best swimming, skiing, camping, boating and hiking happens in and around this 725 km natural resource.

The Garden City (Homer) Skyway Bridge: To the east, sections

of the St. Catharines Garden City Skyway Bridge are visible. Erection of steel for the Skyway began in January 1960 and the bridge was completed in October 1963. Over 16,330 tonnes of structural steel were used to complete the project. The total length of the Skyway is 5.6 km - the bridge itself measures 2.4 km and its approaches measure 3.2 km.

Toronto: To the north, one can clearly view Toronto's glorious skyline. A highlight, the CN tower at 553 m, is the one of the world's tallest freestanding structure. Toronto has an expanding population that is expected to grow to nearly eight million by 2030.
