[Gaeilge:]Go moch ar maidin Dé Máirt, an 25 Aibreán, gar don phointe seo ar an mbóthar amuigh, chuaigh an Ceannfort Michael Mallin, ceannfort fhórsaí Óglaigh na hÉireann i bhFaiche Stiabhna, chun Óglach gortaithe de chuid Arm Cathartha na hÉireann, Philip Clarke, a tharrtháil.
Níor chuimhnigh Mallin ar a shábháilteacht féin ar chor ar bith agus é ag rith chun na baracáide a bhí ag cur bac ar Shráid Dhásain, agus naoscairí is meaisínghunna ar an gceathrú hurlár d’Óstán Shelbourne ag lámhach go tréan, agus d’iompair sé an tÓglach gortaithe trasna an bhóthair agus tríd an mbealach seo isteach sa Pháirc.
Ar an drochuair, bhí an tÓglach Philip Clarke básaithe faoin am gur sroicheadh sábháilteacht Pháirc Fhaiche Stiabhna.
Early on Tuesday morning, the 25th April, close to this point on the road outside, Commandant Michael Mallin, commander of the Volunteer forces in St Stephen’s Green, went to the rescue of a wounded Irish Citizen Army Volunteer, Philip Clarke.
Mallin, with no thought for his own safety and under heavy fire from snipers and a machine gun on the fourth floor of the Shelbourne Hotel, ran to the barricade blocking Dawson Street and carried the wounded Volunteer across the road and through this entrance of the Park.
Unfortunately Volunteer Philip Clarke had died by the time he reached the safety of St. Stephen’s Green Park.
