1. Tlingit Ceremonial Canoe Marker

Inscription. The Sitka Chamber of Commerce commissioned the carving of this 50-foot ceremonial canoe in 1967 in commemoration of the centennial of the 1867 Alaska purchase.

"Te kot keh yago"- (everybody's canoe)

Officially dedicated by Alaska Native Brotherhood.

The design represents the eagle and the raven tribes of the Tlingit Indian Nation. The canoe was designed by local artist George Benson and carved by local artist Herman Kitka.

Erected 1967 by Sitka Chamber of Commerce.
