Served in the British Army as Private, 1907 1911
Served 2 years 6 days during the World War,
in France, as a Sergeant, Battery "B,"
102nd United States Field Artillery.
Joined the Pennsylvania State Police,
September 1, 1919, and was promoted
to the grade of Sergeant on
February 1, 1926, which rank he held
when he was killed in the performance
of duty in arresting a madman, May 12, 1931.
His last words after being shot were,
"Never mind me, get him."
