When Y2K technology fears had the world in a frenzy…
…Zoo staff formed part of the team halting the extinction of Panamanian golden frogs. The team brought the remaining frogs, threatened by a disease called chytrid, into professional care.

We continue to maintain a robust assurance colony of Panamanian golden frogs here at the Zoo. And we are working with partners to send a number of the frogs who hatched in Baltimore to become part of a breeding colony in Panama. Each day we grow closer to the goal of Panamanian golden frogs thriving in their native forests.
